An in-depth, detailed itinerary, including tee times, transfers and unique lodge experiences will be communicated upon confirmation of deposit. You can, however, see the day-by-day breakdown of each of our offerings here.
While we do not personally arrange tours or itineraries outside of our golfing safari packages, we will happily refer you to a travel agent should you wish to expand your South African experience.
While we encourage you to connect with your preferred travel agent to arrange flights, we’re more than happy to assist with flight bookings for an additional fee. For your peace of mind and ease of planning, exact pick-up and drop-off times will be shared in your detailed itinerary once your deposit has been confirmed.
Your safety is our absolute priority. From the moment you arrive in South Africa until your departure, you'll be accompanied by experienced Savanna Greens guides who know the terrain intimately. Our team will transport you between destinations in premium vehicles and remain with you throughout every golf round and safari activity.
We've designed our itineraries and partnerships specifically with safety in mind, working exclusively with trusted lodges and courses that meet our rigorous standards. If you have specific safety concerns, we're happy to discuss them and explain the additional precautions we take to ensure your complete peace of mind.
Great question! You will note that tours only occur during the winter months when insect load is at its lowest. However, we will be traveling to a malaria area and recommend you talk to a medical professional to determine whether or not you require malaria medication or not. We will have insect repellent available at your disposal, and all beds are equipped with sufficient mosquito nets for a peaceful night’s sleep.
Both players and non-players can expect a fresh golf shirt for each course, a branded cap, a lightweight long sleeve shirt for those inevitable chilly mornings, and a sweater for lounging around the lodge.
A recommended packing list will be supplied upon reservation.
You will be accompanied by Matthew Thorp for every round of golf throughout the tour. Matt, a professional expedition and safari guide, is the mastermind behind the concept of safari golf.
Matt is not on the course to refine your swing, but rather a facilitate an enjoyable, safe and informative golfing experience. You can learn more about his credentials here.
Absolutely not! While some previous experience is mandatory, all levels are greatly welcomed.
We understand that every golfer has unique preferences and requirements. Simply fill out our inquiry form detailing the adjustments you'd like to make, and our team will contact you directly to discuss how we can tailor the perfect safari golf experience for your group.
Non-golfers are absolutely welcome to join the fun! We are happy to tailor the experience to the individual needs of the non-golfer to ensure they are getting the most out of the ‘safari’ element of the tour.
Yes, one can certainly bring their own clubs – but the organising of this would be up to the client. If you want to hire a set of clubs, Savanna Greens partners with a high-quality outfitter that can suit a set of clubs to suit your playing style.
We understand that a truly memorable multi-day golf experience is all about finding the right rhythm. Each game of golf is thoughtfully spaced with a day of rest and recovery.
These pauses are designed to recharge both body and spirit, offering the chance to unwind with relaxing safari activities like immersive game drives, guided bush walks, distinctive dining under the stars, and even a gentle hot air balloon ride over the savanna.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended for the full safari golf experience. You should be comfortable walking approximately one mile, as some courses (like the Gary Player Country Club) are walking-only. While caddies will carry your gear, you'll need sufficient fitness to complete nine holes on foot.
If you have concerns about mobility or fitness requirements, please discuss these with us when booking so we can tailor your experience accordingly.
All gratuities are included in your package price, covering local field guides, rangers, lodge staff, caddies, and restaurant staff. You won't need to worry about calculating or carrying cash for tips throughout your journey. Of course, if someone provides truly exceptional service and you'd like to offer an additional gratuity, you're always welcome to do so.
